As I was researching the COVID-19 vaccines last December, while I had found the Pfizer-BioNTech Fact Sheet and the Moderna Fact Sheet from the FDA website, I came across YouTube Channel “Ninja Nerd Lectures” by Zach Murphy. Out of dozens of similar videos I had watched during that time on YouTube and on other websites, this was the most visually comprehensive breakdown on the inner workings of the Pfizer and the Moderna mRNA vaccines. I have been watching certain videos from Zach since then, and I here share the most relevant videos he has published on his YouTube channel that relate to the current pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2. These are also a nice addition to the Virology lectures I am following from Dr. Vincent Racaniello (see previous post).
First, here is a recent video where Zach thoroughly explains how he studies for the production of his videos, and how he rehearses and lays out his notes before getting recorded:
Second, today on February 19, he published a video on Cell Biology: how cells basically function…just a bird’s-eye view, which helps comprehend everything else:
Third, on March 16, 2020, he overviewed the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnostics of COVID-19:
Fourth, on December 7, 2020, he explained how the mRNA vaccines produced by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna work, which I found very reliable based on my comparisons of this video with the scientific literature and what I had seen at ConsumerLab (consumerlab.com), the “Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy” (CIDRAP, cidrap.umn.edu), and Vincent Racaniello’s YouTube Channel “This Week in Virology” (TWiV) which also appears at microbe.tv
Fifth, there is growing evidence that Vitamin D helps with the prevention of experiencing severe COVID-19 outcomes, including the prevention from being carried into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and possibly (but apparently not conclusive yet) with the prevention of infection (as can also be seen here: Over 200 Scientists & Doctors Call For Increased Vitamin D Use To Combat COVID-19):
Sixth, and finally, Zach Murphy has done a good job explaining the SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in this very recent (Feb. 15, 2021) publication on his channel:
There…this should give you very digestible, visual explanations on these subjects, especially if you have ever found that simply reading on these matters is not abundantly lucid and thorough.
